WOW needs new directors now!Women of Wolverhampton (WOW) is the network for women and women’s organisations in the city. A charitable company, WOW employs 2 part- time staff and

runs several projects funded through different grant funds. Working for equality of women with men in Wolverhampton and to increase the involvement of women

in decision making and leadership, WOW is an important organisation with an increasing role to ensure women are not further disadvantaged by the economic down turn and changes to welfare benefits.
Having been supported by The Haven Wolverhampton for a number of years, WOW is moving to full independence. The organisation has moved to new office space at Newhampton Arts Centre, refreshed the website and opened a separate bank account. The final step is to TUPE the staff from The Haven and this is in process. WOW also needs to find alternative funding sources to sustain the organisation beyond 2013.
We are looking for 3 new directors to join our Board immediately to help with this transition. The skills and experience we are looking for are: Change Management. Employment law and HR practise. Governance and Board development. Funding and income generation.
The commitment we are looking for is: Attendance at Board meetings (quarterly) and sub group meetings (monthly/bi-monthly); Lead on one area of Board responsibility e.g. Health & Safety, Financial Control; Attendance at WOW events; Support for WOW staff and volunteers.
A minimum of 60 hours per year, 5 hours per month.

WOW will provide you with: Induction and training for directors; Opportunities to attend WOW and partnership events; Introduction to a wide network of women and women’s organisations in Wolverhampton; Expenses.
There is a special meeting to be held at 4.00pm on Wednesday 3rd October at Newhampton Arts Centre, Dunkley Street at which these changes are to be agreed and new directors accepted.
