Consultation and engagement is a very important part of the role of West Midlands Police Authority, and as part of our programme of consultation, we are hosting a joint event as part of our ‘Your Opinion Matters’ roadshow with West Midlands Police and the Community Safety Partnership. This event will seek to gain the views of local people in regard to crime, policing and
personal safety. It will also give you the opportunity to raise specific issues of concern within your area with senior officers of the force, and Police Authority members. The meeting will take place on Thursday October 20, 7 – 9 pm, at the  Civic Centre, Council Chamber, St Peter’s Square, Wolverhampton

Karen Samuels, Head of Community Safety for Wolverhampton Council will tell you about priorities for the Community Safety partnership and Chief Supt Neil Evans will update you on police performance in your area, the changes to services, and what this means for local service delivery. Another important change that the Authority will tell you about is the changes to police governance and accountability through the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill – which will become an Act during September/October. It is important that you come and find out what the changes will
mean.

The issues that are raised as being of importance will be used to assist the Authority in priority setting for the strategic plan and in holding West Midlands Police to account for the level of service they deliver. In addition, points raised will be passed onto other agencies, as appropriate, for consideration and action.
I do hope you will be able to attend this important event.
