Iain Duncan Smith, Work & Pension Secretary, continues to keep his job by ridng on the coattails of his “feelings” about the success of universal credit, because the facts continue to shout “incompetence””failure” and “scandalous waste of money”.
The Government Public Accounts Commitee has criticised the failure to meet any targets on Universal Credit, yet paying for it continues to bleed taxpayer money.
So far, Universal Credit has cost us £612,000,000.
The Government’s target for the number of benefits claimants put on Universal Credit by April 2014 was 1,000,000. The number of people actually on the benefit? 7,000
That works out at a cost of about £87,000 per person.
You judge whether that seems like value for money.
