Universal Credit will be rolled out to all areas from April 2015 and finish by the end of 2015/16. It will be fully implemented for new claims in Wolverhampton from October 2015.
People on benefits to be replaced by Universal Credit will be moved over to Universal credit from 2016.
Universal Credit replaces:
- child tax credit;
- housing benefit;
- income-related employment and support allowance;
- income-based jobseeker’s allowance;
- income support;
- parts of the social fund; and
- working tax credit
From April 2016 people on Universal Credit will be able to claim more of their childcare costs – from 70% to 85%.
If you have a partner, you must make a joint claim.
