According to the Office for National Statistics, the number of deaths from heart disease, strokes and other circulation diseases in England & Wales  has fallen by nearly 50% due to healthier lifestyles adopted by those affected, and medical advances.

Cancers a now account for most deaths, 30% for men and women

Dementia is increasing with 1 in 10 women and 1 in 20 among men getting some form of dementia.

The statistics office notes that there were 484,367 deaths from all causes in England & Wales last year, – 1.8% down on the previous year.
