I’m writing to tell you about four performances coming up at the Arena Theatre in May that may be of interest to you and your contacts.
The Knitting Circle
11 May at 7.30pm
The Knitting Circle offers a chilling glimpse into the secret worlds and stolen years inside asylums, with BSL fully integrated into the piece. It is based on the testimonies of people who survived the asylums closed in the 1980s and reverberates with the extraordinary resilience and humanity of these courageous people.

The Adventures of Sancho Panza
21 May at 1.30pm
The Adventures of Sancho Panza is a boisterous, contemporary adaptation of Don Quixote through the eyes of his companion Sancho Panza, by Hijinx Theatre Company. Using vibrant live music, puppetry and masks, an inclusive cast transports Sancho from the heartache of real life to the exuberance of Quixote’s world.

Extraordinary
23 May at 7.30pm
Extraordinary is a dance duet featuring David Toole, fresh from his starring role in the London 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony and acclaimed for his work as an actor and dancer. A most extraordinary journey of self-discovery awaits both dancers in this funny, moving and poignant production, which explores some of the challenges and misconceptions surrounding being a disabled dancer.

Waving Cat of Japan
31 May at 11am and 2pm
Waving Cat of Japan is a Japanese puppet fantasy by Krazy Kat Theatre Company with BSL fully integrated. Maneki Neko, ‘the Waving Cat’, is the Japanese cat-shaped figurine that is said to bring good luck and about whom there are many folk tales and legends. Waving Cat of Japan is aimed at 3-7 year olds.
