good tune including “New Beginnings”
They are also offering two workshops in September for anyone
interested in taking part, including performing, music lessons,
creative writing, singing, reciting and general participation in this

these workshops will only run if there is sufficient interest.
If you have always fancied learning to play a musical instrument or
already play and would like to become more active by joining a
band, becoming a vocalist or singing in a choir, maybe recording
your own material, We have the opportunity to make your dreams
come true. Before we can confirm these sessions we need to know
how interested and how committed you are to turn up week after
week for lessons and rehearsals? The more the merrier as greater
numbers mean the costs per person will be lower. This will be an

The long awaited Free 8 week Judo Course run by
the British Judo Association started here at Beacon
Thursday 28th August. This exciting sport has
proved very popular already.
All those who take part for more than four weeks get
a free judo suit, gradings and record book. All worth
over £100 each if you had to buy it! If the course is
successful our long term goal is to set up a Visually
Impaired Judo Club here at the Beacon Centre.
The next sessions will take place Thursday 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th
September in Beacon’s Recreation room with a prompt start @ 2pm.
You will participate bare footed in suitable loose clothing, and you’ll need
some water during breaks.

Andy Causton has kindly organised with the Art Gallery the opportunity to
enjoy this cultural collection of paintings with the help of an experienced
guide. In the centenary year commemorating the start of the first world
war the opportunity to remember those gone before is a welcome one.
