Your Activeyes newsletter for October has Autumn looming with the night’s drawing in and the changing of the clock getting ever closer. Whilst we are happy to contemplate that extra hour in bed, we hope to tempt you off your sofas to join us in some activities that will stimulate both mind and body.
As always, ActivEyes members are setting the pace of things to come.

In this month’s ActivReport you will find information on the ongoing opportunities available including Swimming and Goalball for the sporty amongst you, with Theatre, Walks, Meals and more.
There’s more news on the our music and poetry evening An audience with two of a kind.

VI Cricket – owzat!!
Sunday 7th September Wolverhampton Cricket Club hosted an open day which included a VI match made up of a collaboration of two teams from the Lancashire Lions, an experienced VI cricket team from the north, and our very own Beacon Bashfuls, a novice selection made up from ActivEyes.
The teams were mixed together to provide an equal balance of talent which proved an entertaining combination.
Pete Moodie from the Beacon kindly provided the commentary with use of the audio equipment on loan from the club.
Final score 87 – 70 with one of the teams the clear winner!
4:30pm – 7pm.
Every Wednesday at the usual venue Dormston Centre, Mill Bank, Sedgley, Dudley, DY3 1SN

Please note the earlier start time of 4:30pm
This season the team has the benefit of personal trainer Lee, from the Matt Inness, ‘Fitinness’ group of trainers currently working at the Beacon centre.

Team players will be taken through a series of warm up exercises and stamina training paying particular attention to the muscles used in Goalball making sure everyone has the opportunity to warm up thoroughly before our regular training starts. Although it’s not compulsory to attend these sessions we would highly recommend your attendance as the additional physical benefits will certainly help your game play.

Our novice team including Russell, Jenny, Duncan, Aidan and Nick will all support this as fact!! Congratulations are in order as they won 3 of their 5 matches at the first tournament meet of this season. They achieved an impressive 2nd place silver medal and a whooping 37 goals were scored!!!

Russell Snead was outstanding and unanimously recognised as man of the matches!!

If you would like to give it ago just turn up to the regular training sessions held every Wednesday.

interest. So please call Mandy or Tim 01902 880111 if you want to book a place. Early registration may secure you a place free of charge.
Our special congratulations to our Activeyes member Duncan McLean who successfully completed his sponsored abseil at Dudley Castle on Sunday 28th September Raising a fantastic £250 for Beacon. Well done Duncan, we wonder what will you do next?

Inspired by the courageous fund raising efforts of others Tim and Mandy have decided to join forces in their own weight loss fund raising challenge for Activeyes. They are seeking sponsors for their LBD (“little black dress ”) challenge.  In this 10 week challenge they take role reversal to a completely new level with Tim responsible for Mandy’s weight loss programme and vice versa. They are working on a theory that you’ll always put in more effort for others than you would for yourself!
The loosing loser gets to wear the LBD of the winning losers choice at the Activeyes Jingle Bells Bash on Saturday 13th December. So please give as generously as you can. Register your pledge with Tim or Mandy on
