A networking event for disabled people with Comedian Lawrence Clark
“Intelligent and incredibly mischievous” **** Metro
Please join us on November 22nd at the Wulfrun hall for a wrap around event starting in the morning, with Lawrence Clark performing “Inspired” at 1.30pm.
Straight from BBC 1’s documentary We Won’t Drop The Baby, Laurence is the only stand-up comedian commissioned by the London 2012 festival. Whenever Laurence gets told he’s inspirational for doing very ordinary things, he feels like he’s being told he’s exceeded people’s low expectations of him. A wife? A job? And two gorgeous sons? In his own imitable style that’s brought him twenty-five four and five star reviews, Laurence Clark brings you what he does best – a comedy show.
Taking Lawrence’s lead the day promises to focus on very ordinary achievements like getting into training and employment. An open mic slot will let people share what they do, panel discussions with local entrepreneurs, and community champions will provide role models, workshops will inspire people to use training and employment services to achieve their goals in life. The day will close with an agenda for the future. Together we will improve the use of services by disabled people following this unique consultation and networking event.
If you’re sceptical when told to climb every mountain, reach for the skies and follow your dreams then this is definitely the event for you!
Inspired – Celebrating achievement for International Day of Disabled People is organised by Access 2 Business, Dudley Centre for Independent Living and One Voice with support from Arts Council England.
Everyone using public transport to attend will receive £2 towards travel costs. Please bring a sandwich and a drink for launch.
