Use your vote

// April 13th, 2010 // Wolverhampton, inclusive, information, politics

We are at a period where there are likely to be lots of changes proposed or carried out by Governments that will have a big impact on disabled people’s lives: from getting a job, to benefits, to the care system, the impact of genetic research etc.
So it’s a good time to make sure your voice is being heard, and one of the easiest ways of doing this is to make sure you vote.
It is not to late to register for a vote - you have until April 20th, so call up the Council electoral services, and get registered to have a say!
When you are registered check back to ur website to find out how all the Wolverhampton candidates have answered the 10 questions we put to them from disabled citizens.
The answers we have received will be on this website from 22nd April, so make sure you come and have a look!

    Hi Cathy - thanks for your comments.
    If you are in Wolverhampton North East, Colin Ross, your Liberal Democrat candidate sent in a response at the weekend which we put up today. See here>>

    I vote hung parliament!

    A lot of us have heard about people Rob Marris has helped, but I’ve heard of a lot of people helped by Robin Lawrence as a councillor too, so it comes down to who’s most likely to win for me. I wish the polls were about local seats - what people think in Sunderland or Kent doesnt help me

    I’m in Wolverhampton North East and we have the most standing -6- but i dont know any of them. Its like Blind Zorro says all you;ve got to go on is the letters and leaflets, which is all one way traffic.
    I’d rather question them direct.
    Some of the answers to the One Voice questions have been helpful, but I still havent made up my mind.
    And none of the people I could vote for have sent in answers.

    Stephano is referring to the Elections section of our website

    We put 10 of your questions to the Wolverhampton candidates, and you can find their responses here>>>>>

  6. Stephano says:

    “I hope they come to me house to talk to me about their policies.”
    - Blind Zorro I don’t think they do that anymore, we are supposed to make up our minds on soundbites. We could discuss some policies here!
    The responses to candidates has got me thinking. I like that the Conservatives call us “disabled people” and seem to understand about disabling barriers;
    The Conservatives say the same as Rob Marris and Richard Whitehouse on early intervention, and I like what Rob Marris says about disabled access - its all about taking up people’s problems and helping them, like the rest of you have said, but I’m not in Rob Marris’s Constituency, so i have to chose between Richard Whitehouse, Pat McFadden, and Ken Wood.
    What do other people think?

    @Cassie - Cameron should be in charge of poster campaigns coz his airbrush techniques make us all look more beautiful!!!

  8. Kal says:

    I agree about Rob Marris, If I vote, it’ll be for him - I met him in the Chindit, he’s a solid bloke.

  9. Cassie says:

    I don’t get it - why David Cameron for poster campaigns, Clegg is more photogenic.

  10. soowoo says:

    Rob Marris is a good constituency MP he’s helped lots of people in his area, including my Dad

  11. cassie says:

    I’m not a big fan of Labour, but Rob Marris really helped me with a big problem, so he gets my vote

  12. wimpstanley says:

    in a perfect world we could have Vince Cable for chancellor, labour for our local MPs Diane Abbot for Prime Minister, and David Cameron in charge of poster campaigns.

  13. blind zorro says:

    I second that!
    I’ve never voted before and am quite excited.
    I hope they come to me house to talk to me about their policies.
